About Us

      Lisburn and District Rabbit and Cavy Club has been established for many years. We have quite a few members, young and old, who enjoy sharing their rabbits and cavies (guinea pigs). Our members come from all over Ireland, from Limavady, Armagh, Newtownards, Holywood, Saintfield, Belfast, Donegal, and Enniskillen. We even have two members from Scotland.
      We have 4 Shows a year in 1st Ards Scout Hall, Newtownards, and several in Rossorry Hall, Enniskillen, and every August we are very much a part of Fermanagh County Agriculture Show on the Old Tempo Road, Enniskillen.

Why do we show our rabbits?

      Each of us have fallen in love with our rabbits and cavies, get a great pleasure in breeding them and striving for the perfect specimen! Where else can you be sure that you are achieving this, by showing them against other rabbit and cavy fanciers. Our judges come over from England and Scotland and are men and women who have years of experience and offer us a great wealth of knowledge – this isn’t easy as we have in N. Ireland 12-15 different pedigrees of cavies and probably 20 pedigree breeds of rabbits. Though we are competing for best in Show, etc we are a berry friendly bunch, willing to chat about our own specific breed in rabbit and cavies offering each other the benefit of our own experiences, advice and comradeship.
